Those components are passion, drive, and humility.

[Luke 9:23] Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”

If you don’t have passion or “desire”, then you won’t have the fire or strength to have longevity. You won’t have endurance or drive and won’t have the heart for humility. We must do whatever it takes to stay fresh in God and on fire for Him. The key to longevity is keeping your relationship with Jesus your #1 priority. As soon as prayer and God’s word become “a thing” instead of “the thing”, our passion begins to fade, which means burnout or offense is right around the corner

Stovall weems

14 Things That Jesus Did Not Say…

We get things messed up from time to time…especially the words of Jesus…here is what He did NOT say…

#1 – “They will know you are my disciples by your theology, and the arrogance that accompanies it.” (John 13:35)

#2 – “Dream really small dreams and make sure you never ask for anything big!” (John 14:12-14, Psalm 2:8)

#3 – “If someone doesn’t believe just like you believe…make sure to do all you can to attack, criticize and beat them down as much as possible.” (Mark 9:38-41)

#4 – “Be tolerant of everyone…I am one of the many ways to God.” (John 14:6)

#5 – “Make sure you make the church about you…that you are served well…please, don’t do anything that might cause you any type of inconvenience. This was a realization which I still remind myself today of. It was the one which revealed to me how EASY it is to live a 2nd best life. This was at a point and time of life that I knew God had a plan and purpose for my life. But one thing scared me, my ability to just cruise into a comfort zone..... a zone were I really achieved nothing much of worth and focused only on pleasing myself.

I have seen so many people around me with potenial to do something GREAT & SIGNIFICANT with their lives. But wither it was their surroundings, environment or laziness they end up fading into the "normal" category. If you want to be in the "normal" category, expect a "AVERAGE LIFE". One thing I can promise you is God does NOT design NORMAL plans for your life, God has said he will give you "Exceeding Abundantly above ALL that you may think or ask...... " This isn`t just a nice verse to tickle your ears, It is the truth....

We go to work and sacrafice our time in order to recieve money. We go to the gym and sacrafice time in order to stay in shape and maintain health. We sacrafice time to study in school in order to recieve knowledge. One verse I have came to love is " To whom much is given, much is required". This means if you want to live the most exciting life possible, you are going to have to make a commitement, an inestment, a sacrafice...... But in return through your giving & sacrafice you recieve that abundant life, the dreams of your heart, things you thought would never be possible..... THATS A promise... Not from me. But God!!!

LIFE IS BUT A VAPOR.... I cant believe how much time has passed since I last posted. I slipped into the comfort zone with this blog. I wasn`t intentional. Dont let this happen with your life.

An essential element to the comfort zone is the stepping out in faith, into the "not so sure /unknown zone". This is exactly where God is in FULL operation. This is were he wants us, because when we are out of control we rely on him. We need to be taking risks to progress..... No other way, we need to be taking risks to grow in faith.....and to do Gods Will!!

ILLUM - TAKE TWO!!!

Friday 10th April at 8pm will see Part two of"ILLUM"....

Basement Underground is the venue; this is the Underground layer to a house which can hold up to 150+.

Vision: To create a safe environment with excellence MUSIC, ATMOSPHERE & MEMORIES…

Expectation: Snacks, Sodas, DJ, lots of cool people....you all better be cool!!!:) "You can lounge, dance, eat or whatever!!! I realised that a lot of the time when I wasn’t on an emotional high and or feeling happy I wouldn`t be as inclined to love on people, share with people and just befriend them. In our world we have a lot of people associating Christianity with an emotional high at the weekend, but lacking that heart connection, knowledge and understanding. I used to always wonder was it right to talk about God even when your not feeling very fired up at all?!.....Is it right to encourage people in their faith even when yours isn’t at a peak….?!!! YESSS!!!!!!.....

Psalms 119v 11

“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you”

This simple, but effective verse shows us that, even when we are weak we need have to the knowledge and understanding of the scriptures to enable us to do what is best for God and us, EVEN when we don’t feel pumped, or when our emotions aren’t sky high.........

One of the most popular scriptures in the bible is

Matthew 6:33:

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and THEN all these things will be ADD ONTO YOU”

When Jesus tells us to "seek first the kingdom of God," the very word "seek" implies a strong-minded pursuit. J. B. Phillips paraphrases the idea with "set your heart on." The Amplified Bible says, "Aim at and strive after." The original Greek text states a continual command: "Keep on continually seeking." The thought is determination, which I define as "deciding to hang in there regardless.” We need to keep in mind the difference between natural sight and supernatural vision. When we look at life with vision, we perceive events and circumstances with God's thoughts. And because His thoughts are higher and more profound than our mere ‘horizontal thinking’, they have a way of softening the blows of calamity and giving us hope through tragedy and loss. It also enables us to handle with wisdom, those times of prosperity and popularity. I know of no more valuable technique in the pursuit of successful living than sheer determination.

Nothing works better than persistence – persistence in godliness, determination to stay diligent in study, persistence in commitment to the priorities of ministry, determination in working with people. I often remind myself of those familiar words in 2 Timothy 4:2, "Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season." That's a nice way of saying, ‘Hang in there’! Do it when determination comes naturally and also when it is hard to come by. Do it when you're up, do it when you're down. Do it when you feel like it, do it when you don't feel like it. Do it when it's hot, do it when it's cold. Keep on doing it. Don't give up. That is persistence and determination. When you get whipped or when you win, the secret is staying at it.

Phil:)....p.s He will NEVER let you down!!:)

THE REAL DEAL!!!

OK so school has started back up again..... thats the academic side. This semester im taking Inner healing, christology and old testament survey. These are all great subjects and our professors are all of a very high standard:)....This means our weeks are flying in, as im kept REALLY busy which is great!!!:)

This past weekend we had a world renown speaker " John Bevere" at celebration church, this guy writes many books, which im sure alot of you have read. One which i have read is undercover, this book deals with the issue of spiritual authority. I found alot freedom within it.

Life over here is still great for me, the family I am living with are so loving and caring. They conitnue to richly bless me, i have learnt so much from them alone. A great example was just lastnight. We brought a guy named Mike to the cinema. Mike is a guy who Jeremy and Alisa met randomly at the movie theatre on regular occurances because he collected the tickets whilst sitting in his wheelchair. Unlike many others they decided not to just pass by Mike, but opted for the less comfortable option of finding out a little about him. After talking with Mike they realised that he basically had a mother who never sees him, never knew his father and had no other family. Jeremy + Alisa recieved mike into their family.

We left Mike off at his apartment lastnight, and jeremy explained to me, that anything that was in his apartment he had bought sacrificially. This deeply touched me, because so many times in life, me including; we get emotionally touched by situations, but yet theres no end product or action. Jeremy showed me that this is what its all about to be the real deal, and not to do it just for people to see. To overcome the fleshly, selfish desires of life to do what you know deep down is right. This is were IMPACT is truely made. And its definitely one of them situations that you TASTE and SEE!!!! Once you get out of your selfish mindset and lead your heart into a situation like this, your heart truely connects, resulting in you yourself being richly blessed. It reminds me of that scripture in Corinthians " Beat your body and make it your slave" We have to overcome our fleshly desires sometimes to do what is right. And in return we won`t be disqualified from living to the full, being blessed and knowing truely who that person of Jesus really was.

One thing in teacher training last year i learnt, was that humans learn best by DOING.... by DOING it goes deeper....You have by-products of fulfilment, purpose and reason to live...... if you want to really know Jesus on a deeper level..... DO!! dont just WANT!!! Lead your heart!!!:)

VIDEO OF ILLUM!

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v10.nonxt1.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3Da723ea0178408982%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1330024628%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D2B281202510AE10A180BF8A38A739DF71497F6AA.8412CF63D7C867C29C1F48B290BA04D8ADAC7A97%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3Da723ea0178408982%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3Dvmei1dp8O3-N2KJDril9GsG0dko&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

What a great success this party was.... everyone had loads of fun!!! But just of recently I believe God was calling me to be a little more creative this time. So i have decided to throw a big party in JAX to raise the next installment due on Feb 17th. I am really excited about this party.... because i don`t want it to just be a benefit party... but a party with a purpose. Its crazy how time flys.... I have been slacking on this blog a little... Tommorrow never comes eh...:S... The last few weeks has been very eventful for me. One thing I have realised, is that in life there are seasons. In the first few months being here I definitely went through a storm as I know it. But first and fore mostly, God used this storm to develop my character in many ways. A great saying that i love is " Your Gifts and talents can bring you places, were your character can`t keep you". I am so thankful that I kept an open mind and let God develop me during the storm.

I believe now that I have a little more character..... God is using this season in my life to develop the gifts and talents he has given me. So at the moment im just trying to focus on being faith in the smaller things, by giving 100% no matter how boring the task and maintaining a level of excellence (Mathew 7:7).

In January Celebration church launched a 21 day daniel fast, starting on the 11th of January (www.awake21.org). Now fasting is something which i am not familiar with. But i have kept an open mind. And it has been amazing to see how this act of disconnecting my body from its fleshly desires and connecting more with God has made a massive spiritual impact within my personal walk with God. Its like faith on steriods. When I looked at Mathew 17:20-21, i could see that famous scripture of how a mustard seed of faith can move a mountain. But the key ingredient comes directly after the statement..... "However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting" NKJV. This was definitely new to me... but after trying it out i understand exactly why now..... there is nothing spiritual about the physical fasting....but when you discipline your body in this way... that energy is somehow transferred into the spiritual realm enabling you to align yourself with the will of God alot easier. You have all heard the saying... what goes in... must come out... its the same principal... the less gunk in... the less gunk out..:)

So if you have not tried this before... I really reccommend you to, especially if you need a breakthrough in some area of your life.... God may be willing to give you that breakthrough, but he`s waiting on the chance...Give him a chance... Although remember, fasting is useless unless you spend more time in Gods word and in prayer....

Phil

Waves will always come your way!!!!!

Just recently I was looking at the prophecy of Isaiah 9v6 which talks about this baby Jesus which was to be born 700 years later. There are some great descriptive words f: for Jesus: Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
One which stands for me is the prince of peace. I’m sure a lot of us are asking, if God is really the prince of peace why is this peace not contagious, why did it not effect his environment in this way.
If we look at Jesus` entry to this world alone, we can see it certainly wasn’t a peaceful one. He first of all had Mary riding on a donkey, whilst ready to give birth. Mary and Joseph couldn’t find a place for the RULER of this earth to be born (even though Jesus deserved the red carpet treatment, he chose not to), he also had King Herod on his back trying to kill him, the country was in despair as King Herod was going to kill every male child 2 and under. This certainly wasn’t a time of peace, more like chaos . But he’s the prince of peace?!! This is a bit like Christmas for many people, there certainly isn’t peace in a lot of peoples environments.
Now the question is what type of peace is this, because it most definitely doesn’t mean the environment we live in. Luke 2v14 says Glory to God in the highest, and peace on earth to people whom his FAVOR rests. This Favor means people who have committed their life to God.

A definition of PEACE: Shalom (Hebrew): Rest, tranquillity, wholeness, completeness.

This peace is only available to people who have the favor of God, people who believe and trust in God. John 14:27 shows us that this peace is not of the world, its SUPERNATURAL.
Unfortunately most people on this earth rely on their circumstances to be good until they find what they believe to be “peace”. This isn’t really peace, this is really only RELIEF, wither it is money coming through for a mortgage, getting a new job, recovering from sickness, healing of a relationship. These are all related to circumstances. Unfortunately as humans we can’t control circumstances, does that mean we can’t have peace all the time NO! God’s peace is completely different. I LOVE the story of the disciples in the boat with Jesus, after hitting a few WAVEs they started to panic, they didn’t have peace. Jesus` words were profound “ye have little faith”. True Peace (Rest, tranquillity, wholeness, completeness) comes through trusting and putting faith in God. Not panicking as soon as you hit a few little waves.
One thing I’ve realised through my events and others, is that God will usually gives you peace DURING the storm or he will CALM it. And he usually doesn’t calm until you are at your breaking point.
I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and hope you dig into that PEACE that God offers no matter how big the wave!!!! God is in control…….ALWAYS.

He Knows my name!!

Having gone through a lot of frustration, stress and hardship recently I can now see the bigger picture better than I could during the midst of all the problems, I see its purpose. Even when I thought situations were failing because of my bad or Gods bad decisions, sometimes God purposefully places negative events within your life. These specific events are put in place not to destroy, but to introduce life and freedom through the vehicle of hardship.

I have learnt that the true condition of the heart is revealed a lot of the time through situations which make us angry, situations in life were everything goes against your OWN planning, times in life when nothing goes YOUR way. This is were we see how much we really rely on God for every breath we take. The key is character building. “Your gifts and talents can bring you places, were your character cannot keep you”. God wants a heart change.

So often in life we try to play God. One thing I’ve realised is that if you try and play God, you will have an end product which goes by the name of Despair. If you want to fight DESPAIR, your best defence mechanism for Despair is trusting in God.

If we look at many situations within the Bible were Men were found in places of potential Despair, there are plenty. One of my favourites is Joseph, he was a young man who had a lot going for him. Until one day all his brothers were saturated in anger and envy, thus deciding to SELL him as a slave. To be sold by your own blood and sent to a foreign land with no friends or family plus after being completely disowned is a pretty hard task to deal with, without reaching despair. It will never make sense on the short term for humans… and the problem is we don’t have access to the long term bigger picture (if we did, we would be on par with God, trust wouldn’t exist). So as humans we have a problem… the long term bigger picture isn’t available. We can either put faith in a Good God who has promised to prosper us if we live his way or we can try and use our tiny useless little brains to try and figure it out. DESPAIR is not of God… it’s the devils doing, freedom is found in Trusting God. If Joseph had of stayed in an attitude of despair, it wouldn’t have been a success story, he wouldn’t have been able to hear Gods voice (due to trying to figure everything out on human standards). If Moses would of stayed in a state of despair, it wouldn’t have ended up a success story. TRUST GOD… he will make a way. ALWAYS!!!!

When we play God we forget that God is NOT up in heaven looking down wondering what he can do with you, confused as to what abilities or gifts you have…. HE KNEW before time began….. “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”( Jeremiah 29:11) God knows!! “Even the very hairs on your head are all numbered” (Mathew 10:30). God knows you and your situation, he knows the authority over you, he knows your leader, he knows your family, he knows your enemy. He knows everything!!! God has this earth in the palm of his Hand…. He wants a relationship that is not built on doubt, but TRUST. Trust comes through your heart. God develops and purifies your heart through situations in life. We don`t have control over these situations. The more we develop the more we trust, the more we trust the bigger God becomes, the bigger God becomes the more abundant life we experience……

But remember it wont always be easy.... It probably won`t make sense, But God is ALWAYS in control. And he will always have the victory!!! I don`t want to waste this life chasing after my small plans.... which i have limited control over anyways.... God is sovereign wither you like it or not!

Love you

Phil

When things Just dont Go your way!!!

For most of my life alot of things seemed to go pretty smoothly. Going through university passing all my exams, playing football at a reasonable standard and getting paid for it, being brought up within a solid christian home..... I am soo blessed...

But recently i have stepped completely out of that comfort zone as i persue what i believe is Gods will for my life. Over the past few weeks and months in what i believe to be GODS WILL i ask myself how come everything hasnt went all smoothly like it should?! or should it?! The car i bought since being over here has give me problem apon problem...the course im doing is soooo intense.... my money has run dry(no time to work and cant find a job).....things were getting on top of me with all these things combined together........ But i did pray for "God to break me and mold me" So that i may be equipped for his work. so..... i truthLy believe that is what he is doing...

Sometimes in life we tend to make up our own perceptions of how God should operate within our lives. Pain and sufferings is always going to arrive at some stage or other. But when it arrives at our door step we focus on rebuking it in Jesus` name or we think God is being unjust. Although a lot of the time when we review the situation afterwards in the BIGGER PICTURE we see how beneficial it was and that we learnt and progressed in many ways through it.

I have learnt that instead of coming with an attitude of dismissal towards problems when they arrive, should we not have an attitude of endurance and believing that God won’t let us go through anything we can’t cope with. Would God not want our attitudes to be ones of faith and hope. That we don’t necessarily find happiness through the problems but we find joy and hope knowing that God will deliver us in His Due time (1 Samuel 1v20). Just like a father who lets his child go in the swimming pool, God lets us go sometimes (as i feel he did with me). When we are left in the deep end to fend for ourselves, we end up learning a lot quicker than having armbands on forever(immature believers). It is Gods plan that we progress and learn to know that even when we are going through troubles, even though we sometimes can`t see God in the midst; he is there watching your every step.

In this life we don’t have to decide for hard times to come our way as it they will, but we can decide our attitudes towards them. Intially i started focusing on the problem and how i was so "unlucky" "unfortunate" felt sorry for myself etc... I basically forgot about God, i didnt give God an opportunately to reveal himself and teach me. Eventually i realised i can live alongside these problems, but it all comes down to the root which was my attitude. The scriptures tell us the yoke is easy and the burden is light (Matthew 11:30). This doesnt mean the problems go away... it means a shift of attitude. Transferring the baggage from you to God. Gods mission for us is that we go into the world and make disciples - "How can you deliver the goods if your heart is heavier than the load?"

Do not focus on the Problem (devils a deciever), as when you focus on something you think about it in more depth.... the more indepth you think about something the more ingrained it becomes within your mind. Be concerned and play your part BUT after this hand it over to the God who will deliver you in his DUE time!!! I promise you.... he will come through..... REMEMEBER!!.... "IN HIS TIME, NOT YOUR TIME, BUT IN GODS TIME WHICH IS DUE TIME".

L.A Dream Centre Mission Trip

What a great experience it was for me spending only a few days at the Dream Centre in Los Angeles. Prior to going I had mixed feelings and wasn’t sure what to expect, but I knew going to L.A alone was exciting and this was a place which could impact the world.

Whilst being there I seen so many ministries which were reaching people in many different situations using several dynamic methods. And it all started with a God given vision to one man. This one man then boldly pursued the call of God on his life with the understanding that God is a bigger God than we can ever imagine.

This brought me back to scriptures such as “where there is no vision the people perish”. I was encouraged that if you keep striving and persevering with good heart, God will give you Dreams bigger than you ever dreamt.

The most amazing thing for me at the Dream Centre was when we went on the homeless outreach we were able to tell hopeless young men and woman we could pray for them, but could also be that prayer. If they accepted we were able to bring them back with us to the Dream Centre. When they arrived back they were able to have free accommodation and food as long as they participated in the program.

The program is designed to filter everything which was unhealthy about their previous life and renew it with life giving training which was based around the principles of the Bible. In chapter 34v 8 the Psalmist says to “Taste and see that the lord is good”. I Believe the Dream Centre is a living testimony to fact that anyone tastes a little of Jesus with an open heart will Realise he is the one and only God.

I was so blessed when I seen these people who were bound and living deep within sin being set free by the sanctification of the Holy Spirit. I was able to see the process of the Gospel at work step by step, from beginning to finish, from the invitation to come back to the Dream Centre to positions of leadership. Another great example of how God can use the weak to lead the strong. God is a life Changer…….He just needs us to give him the chance and he will move in power.

Love Ya Phil!!!!

New Start!!

So here i am,
I have been in Jacksonville Florida for aprox 3 months now. It feels like ive been here alot longer due to the amount of things i have covered in this short space of time. God has really been at work with me. He is continually changing my thoughts and pattern of thinking, I am really excited about what the future Holds for Gods church.

The reason i have started this blog is just a simple way of communicating with people back home about what is going on in my life and what God is revealing to me through the process of an intense course.
